神若以我們的行為審問，世上恐怕沒有人能站立得住；惟有祂以恩典與慈愛相待，我們才得以存活。既是這樣，在神面前我們也就只能承認自己的不配，懇求祂的憐憫同在，好脫離因自己或別人的罪而陷入的籠牢，從黑暗步向光明，得到主內真正的自由釋放。
憂傷痛悔的心，神從來都不輕看。只是我們的自義，常攔阻了我們領受神的恩典。
