個別未信主的朋友認為成了基督徒就失去了自由。所以雖然很認同基督的福音，但卻遲遲不能下定跟從基督的決心。
從決心跟從基督的那天，我們確實會失去一些「自由」。那是繼續享受在「黑暗樂趣」的自由和拒絕基督靈糧的自由。因為對於屬神的人，內住的聖靈常常提醒和催促我們既認定基督為主人，就要脫離往日黑暗中的想法和行為、卻思想祂的話語、聆聽祂的聲音。這些「不自由」卻是真正的自由，叫我們出黑暗、入奇妙光明。

- 「那些坐在黑暗中死蔭裡的人，被困苦和鐵鍊捆鎖」(107:10, 和合本)
思想：在未信主以前，你會感覺到自己像坐在黑暗死蔭裡嗎？或者你有其他的感受？
